SHANTI - Chronicle of Courage and Survival

Young lass of thirteen years from Fathehgarh District of Hussainganj was oblivious of what awaited her as she jumped for joy on getting married at this tender age. Marriage was nothing more than a festivity that offered her new clothes and gifts from her kith and kin.

Her thoughts about the euphoric marital life were scrunched by the man who had every right to bite, abuse her sexually, scratch, bully, grope, molest and maltreat her at his own free will, as he was her HUSBAND.

She was left with a joey in the pouch within few days of marriage and was a mother at the age of fourteen!

She toiled hard to survive and earn bread and butter for herself and her barbarous husband who was good for nothing .For him Shanti was a sexual whoopee. She was mother of three within next two years.

The cohabitees under the roof decided to relocate to Delhi to make both the ends meet.

Shanti victimized and swindled looked for affection in her life, which she could find in a man in the neighborhood. After being enslaved for unending days of misery that she suffered , she took a stand and moved with her kids to that man and started living as his wife. Not yet free legally from her previous marriage she led a life she wanted …A Nameless Relation, beyond the curtains of shame.

He did justice to her sexual and emotional needs but never accepted her children.

Was that a favour to Shanti or a way to gratify his own desires without demarcations?

 Benighted she lived in her own small world till one day she got a phone call from some well wisher telling her that the one she trusted and dedicated her life to got married.

She was all by herself with her three children .She had no place to go back to.

He promised to support her financially and come-hither with her!

He lives with her officially newly wed and not Shanti.

He comes to her every night to have dinner and put to display his chauvinist machismo.

Shanti acquainted with the real intents and purposes continues to strive and live with courage for her children.

Her courage has betrayed her hardships
